Dr. Lucas

Dr. Romeo Augusto Lucas is a board-certified gynecologist and founder of the New England Center for Pelvic Health in Freeport, Maine. This center is the realization of his years-long vision for a clinic where patients suffering from pelvic pain and endometriosis could have access to comprehensive evaluation, accurate diagnoses, and thorough care tailored to the patient’s experience and goals. This patient-specific approach incorporates a combination of hormonal, analgesic, neurologic, minimally invasive surgical, and/or manual therapies to diagnose and treat pelvic pain.

Dr. Lucas has extensive experience in Robotic Surgery for benign gynecology. Since 2013, he has performed over 400 robotic surgeries as a primary surgeon. Additionally, he has been appointed as a Gynecologic robotic surgery Proctor for Intuitive Surgical (DaVinci robotic surgery platform). Furthermore, he holds a focused practice designation diplomate in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery from the American Board of Ob-Gyn.

Moreover, Dr. Lucas holds doctorate degrees in both Osteopathy and Chiropractic. With his clinical practice experience as a Chiropractic physician, he has been treating axial and extremity spinal dysfunctions in men and women. This experience, particularly in diagnosing and treating low back and pelvic pain in pregnant women, led him to pursue a career in obstetrics & gynecology, ultimately focusing on pelvic pain syndromes.

Currently, Dr. Lucas is actively engaged in pursuing education and certification in neuropelveology. In 2022, he attended the Advanced Neuroanatomy Course through St Louis University, which included the cadaveric study of pelvic neuroanatomy and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. He is also enrolled in educational programs through the International School of Neuropelveology.

In addition, Dr. Lucas holds a Vaginal Microscopy certification through the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease. He offers digital microscopy in-office for complicated cases of vulvovaginitis.

Dr. Lucas is licensed to practice medicine in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont and is board-certified through the American Board of Ob-Gyn. He is also multilingual, speaking Spanish and Portuguese fluently.
