I am so glad I found Dr. Lucas, he is very knowledgeable about endometriosis and actually toke my pain seriously after a failed laparoscopy that only resulted in burning of the endo and my symptoms were back right away, and my previous doctor didn’t want to pursue anything else. Dr. Lucas investigated further and during my excision surgery, found a lot of endo lecisions and cysts on my ovary’s that he removed. Dr. Lucas quite literally gave me my life back. I had previously had a laparoscopy for Endometriosis with an OBGYN who claimed they specialized in excision -- they did not; they burned the endo "away". I ended up in more pain after that surgery than I was before. My quality of life was at an all time low...I was in horrible pain almost every single day. Less than 8 months after that 1st lap with said OBGYN, I went searching for a specialist and came across Dr. Lucas in Maine. From the moment I filled out the New Patient Questionnaire I KNEW this experience was going to be different. Each topic and question on the intake form made me feel understood & seen, and despite being located over 200 miles from his practice, I knew this was a step in the right direction. Dr. Lucas listened to my story, explained & answered all of my questions in a very digestible way (not in a "mansplaining way"). He did not push any kind of extreme hormonal/ medication options; it was clear he wanted to get to the bottom of what was causing my pain. He took time and explained each and every thing that he planned to do, the possible outcomes, options, etc. Two months later, I went in for my Lap/ Excision with Dr. Lucas. To put things into perspective, my 1st botched lap with an OBGYN (elsewhere) lasted about 45 minutes and my OR Notes were about 8 sentences. My surgery with Dr. Lucas took just under 4 hours, and my OR notes were 8 PAGES long. His thoroughness & level of expertise was quite apparent. During my first post-op appointment, Dr. Lucas went through every aspect of my surgery, notes, photos, etc. He followed up multiple times to check in. He reassured me I was going to be okay, and if for whatever reason my pain came back (we know how Endo goes...) that he would be there and we'd get to the bottom of it again. I am a little over a year & a half post-op, and when I tell you my surgery with Dr. Lucas gave me my life back, it quite literally did. I am getting emotional just writing this review, thinking back to the pain I was in & quality of life I had before I was a patient of his. He's an awesome human, a fantastic doctor and his team is incredibly helpful & welcoming. New England Center for Pelvic Health deserves more than 5 STARS. It was worth every mile, every dollar. Dr Lucas changed my life. When I first went to see him he did a full work up including exam and internal ultrasound. He did a great job at answering my questions and explaining things. After my visit he sent a very detailed message in the portal that included everything we talked about and all of his recommendations. I thought what I was experiencing most of my life was just normal until I met him. He recommended surgery for me but did not push for surgery and gave me other options too. I went ahead with surgery and after surgery when he told my parents what he saw/did he videotaped him on my mom’s phone so that I could go back and watch when I was more awake. He always was very responsive on the portal. I am 6 weeks post op and surgery helped me so much. After surgery at my two week post op, he showed the pictures from surgery and went over everything. He also gave me a flash drive with the pictures and post operative notes to keep. I highly recommend Dr. Lucas! He is very knowledgeable and unlike any other gynecologist I have ever met. “I can honestly say that I’ve never had the same kind of treatment and care from any other doctor’s office or medical practice. I struggled to find care in Canada for so many years, and as soon as I got my first call from Dr. Lucas’ office, I immediately got a good feeling. “Without question, this experience, from start to present day, has been the most validating, and the most healing, medical experience I have had to date. Everyone on the team was welcoming and kind, and everyone on the team was knowledgeable and spent real time with me, and with my mother, who was more nervous about my appointments and my surgery than I was.
